Sylvania’s Maple & Main Art & Music Festival returns to downtown Sylvania the weekend of June 5-6, 2021. The festival is free and open to the public.
“Art has always brought people together and defined communities, and we’re thrilled to be one of the first art festivals in the region to resume programming after the pandemic,” said Kelly McGilvery, Executive Director of Sylvania Arts. Maple & Main was not held in 2020 due to restrictions on large gatherings set in place after the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Fifty visual artists from around the country will display their work in booths during the festival. Featured media include photography, painting, jewelry, fibers, glass, ceramics, and more. Artists from northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan will also participate, including jewelry artist Jenny Gorkowski-Klear, glass artist Mark Wagar, and more.
Artist booths will be lined up down Sylvania’s Main Street, on the blocks the east and west of Maplewood Avenue. A stage for musical performances will be set up on the block of Maplewood immediately north of Main Street. Artist booths will be open on Saturday, June 5 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Musical acts include local and regional talent representing genres from rockabilly and bluegrass to jazz, folk, and rock and roll. The headliner on Saturday night will be Angela Perley and the Howlin’ Moons (Columbus, OH) and Polka Floyd of Toledo will close out the festival on Sunday afternoon, with polka covers of Pink Floyd tunes. All concerts are free and open to the general public. The complete performance lineup follows:
