SYLVANIA, Oh.- Sylvania Schools welcomes keynote speaker Barbara Rubel, MA, BCETS, D.A.A.E.T.S on Monday, November 5 at 6:30 pm at the Sylvania Southview Theatre. Barbara will share how postvention, those things done after a suicide, can prevent suicide. The presentation is free and open to the public. The following day, Barbara will address the Sylvania Schools staff during a session for the in-service day focused on mental health.
As a suicide-loss survivor, she has dedicated her life to suicide awareness. Barbara is a highly regarded author and trainer on increasing self-awareness of skills and strengths that improve the ability to handle job burnout, secondary traumatic stress and vicarious trauma. Barbara is the author of But I Didn't Say Goodbye: helping children and families after a suicide. She is a consultant with the Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime offering trainings on providing support to victims and those who help them.
