Just how did STAR Wars and FIRST Robotics partner up and what does that mean for our kids?
On Saturday, December 14th we will have 15 Grades 1-3 FIRST LEGO League Jr. teams and 20 grade 4-8 FIRST LEGO League teams competing and sharing their innovations and robots with judges and the community. This year Star Wars has partnered with FIRST in all four of their programs and helping students learn STEM and innovative thinking.
This year’s challenge for the FIRST LEGO League students is City Shaper ~ in which teams were asked to solve issues or problems related to city planning/population, etc. The grades 1-3 teams challenge was BOOMTown and they were asked to also identify a challenge in the community and develop a solution to make life easier, happier or more connected.
With over 250 students from the region competing Saturday and over 50 high school students volunteering to execute this phenomenal event; we anticipate an extraordinary experience for anyone that would like to participate. This event is free and open to the public beginning at noon. Judging in the morning is closed to the public; and opening ceremonies will begin at 12:00p.m with robot matches beginning at 1:00 p.m.
