Tree City Playhouse Presents Time of My Life by Alan Ayckbourn

Tree City Playhouse, a community theatre programming effort of the Sylvania Community Arts Commission (SCAC), has announced its next production entitled Time of My Life by Alan Ayckbourn. Directed by Dave Nelms, the production will feature the acting talents of Danita Binkowski, Kari Duffy-Shrader, Larry Farley, Eric Huffman, Megan Mockensturm, Andrew Packard, and Tim Robinson.

Keith Ramsdell, Artistic Director for Tree City Playhouse, noted that the playwright’s use of time in the play is especially unique as he examines family life and relationships. “Ayckbourn is an amazing writer, having crafted over 70 plays in his lifetime. Combine a good script with seasoned actors and an intimate venue… it’s a great combination audiences are sure to enjoy.”

Time of My Life charts the decline and fall of a successful family business founded and nurtured by Gerry and Laura Stratton. It is Laura's fifty-fourth birthday and Gerry has organized a small family dinner at their favorite restaurant. Domestically, all seems well. Glyn, their eldest son, has patched up his marriage with Stephanie; younger son Adam has a new girlfriend and is deeply in love. But, as we suspect, all this is surface stuff. For, as their evening proceeds, the play reveals skeletons from the past and a spectre of the future.

The original London production had a successful run at The Vaudeville theatre in 1993 after its premier in Scarborough and received these excellent reviews: “Immensely subtle; ingenious” - The Guardian  “Funny, very funny, and not at all funny; quintessentially Ayckbourn” - The Times.

Performances are scheduled for March 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Church 3TwentyOne, 5845 Centennial Road, in Sylvania. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.sylvaniaarts.org. They can also be purchased at the door prior to each performance.
